About Pommo SUA005616
Pommo was surrendered to us from a hoarding situation, he was fed and cared for, but had never actually received human love and attention. When he arrived he was incredibly shy and shut down and not coping in the shelter, we would never see him eat or try to interact with people. Pommo was placed with one of our very experienced foster carers so we could see how he was in a home with some “one on one” attention. Initially it took nearly three weeks for him to accept and seek pats and cheek rubs, but slowly he has learnt to trust his carer.
He struggles to find comfort in people and is still not confident or comfortable enough to explore the house, but he has responded to his foster carer and her older children feeding and patting him. The one thing that made him feel confident enough to take these steps was the foster carer’s cat, who Pommo adores the company of. Having a confident friend will be the only way you will be rewarded by seeing his true sweet nature.
Pommo must have another friendly confident feline around and a human who is patient and experienced enough to allow him the time to thrive. If you are happy to give this sweet gentle boy a lot of time to feel comfortable and confident and do not expect him to show affection before he is ready then please consider giving him a home. He enjoys being patted and combed all over and really likes his food but he absolutely does not want to be picked up!
His new home must have experience with very shy cats or are committed to giving Pommo the time he needs.

Adoption details
Simply note the ID number and the cats name and visit our hostel at 200 Elder Street in Greensborough. Alternatively you can call the hostel on 8457 6500. We are currently open between 10am-4pm Mon-Fri and 10am and 3pm Sat-Sun.
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend! It is also important to allocate time for adoption and we recommend you allow at least a couple of hours to get to know the cat and do the necessary paperwork.
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need
