Introducing Gronk. This good looking blue eyed boy is sure to steal many hearts.
Gronk is certainly part ragdoll, though hes been stray for a long time and his history is unknown. But we're going to find him a family to help him reach his full potential!
Poor Gronk was very lucky to be befriended by a kind family when he turned up at their home - they spent a long time gaining his trust so they could catch him and bring him to us.
It's easy to assume things based on a breed, but it's not a good idea. At the moment, Gronk is shy, withdrawn, easily startled and unsure of people. He's clearly a gentle, loving boy who is desperate for another chance but he is NOT the floppy, cuddly, stereotype of a ragdoll. Maybe one day he will be but he needs patience and understanding at the moment.
He's in pretty poor physical condition- extremely lean and scrawny, his coat is dirty and has no shine. He arrived with a nasty open wound on his leg that was weeping and oozing and generally looked very sore and nasty - some examination revealed there was a grass seed embedded in his leg, which had caused an abcess that then burst. Ouch!!
So with all he's been through, it's no wonder Gronk is shy and quiet at the moment!
He was interacting with the other cats and dog at the home of the family who found him. So he can live with other pets, pending appropriate introduction.
Very young kids (or people of any age!) who can't respect his personal space and be quiet and gentle with him, will not suit.
He's looking for a strictly indoor only home please.
Gronk is off to the vetsfor desexing, microchip and vaccination tomorrow (Tuesday 1st December). He will also be tested for FIV at this time. Based on his life experiences etc, there is a high likelihood that he is FIV positive.
So we are wanting to find someone who is willing to adopt him regardless of his FIV status.
More info about FIV is available here: https://www.petrescue.com.au/library/articles/caring-for-cats-with-feline-immunodeficiency-virus-fiv
Gronk's adoption fee is $150. This includes his desexing, microchip, vaccination, vet check and flea/worm treatment.
If you would like to offer him a home, please message the page or email avonvalley@safe.org.au and tell us as much as you can about yourself!
Thanks for reading! 😸
