About Mack
Mack sustained a traumatic neck injury a few months ago which resulted in a condition called Megaesophagus. This disorder affects the muscular movement in the oesophagus which propels food into the stomach. Mack now needs to be fed in an upright position where gravity takes the place of the muscular movement in the oesophagus. Luckily Mack is very food orientated and cannot wait to climb up into his chair and sit quietly waiting for his bowl of food to be placed in front of him. SAS is looking for a family who would be prepared to feed Mack in this way...the chair comes him! Mack only needs short walks each day and his total joy in life is just hanging out with his humans.
Mack was surrendered into our care from owners who did not have the desire to make him part of the family. Poor Mack spent his whole life in the backyard alone. He has been with us in foster care for several months now where he has been socialised with both small and large dogs, and allowed to be inside in a family situation.
Mack is house trained and it is preferred that he be the only dog of the family as he now likes all the attention he can get. He does not like cats.
Mack needs an experienced and patient owner who will take some time to settle him into his new home environment as he can be a little nervous to start with in new environments but give him some time and he will be wanting pats and cuddles. Mack will also need an owner that can can follow a routine which will help with his nervous disposition and set him up to succeed. He needs access inside/outside at all times, and a new active family who (perhaps) work from home, or are retirees.
Mack can be a bit anxious when meeting new people and due to this is not suitable to a home with children under the age of 16 yo including visiting grandchildren.
Mack is in care in the Sutherland Shire and if you would like to meet Mack, please send us as much information as possible to: sasrescue@gmail.com about your home and lifestyle so that we can see if you are both a good match.
Mack is not suitable for interstate adoption (except for ACT) or apartment living.
