About Astrid
Astrid is a stunning, brindle girl who turns heads wherever she goes. Her mottled coat and deep amber eyes are enough to make anyone’s heart melt, but Astrid couldn’t give two hoots about her good looks. Her sleek exterior hides a silly, goofy and funny girl who makes an impression on everyone she meets.
There is no shortage of laughs when Astrid is around. Despite her supermodel appearance she’s actually quite the dork. Her true colours shine when she sleeps, fully relaxing and letting go. When Astrid dreams, her body twitches erratically, feet ‘running’ and eyes rolling around under her half-opened eyelids, giving her the look of a greyhound possessed. Despite these moments of ungracefulness, Astrid can’t ignore her own beauty, as hard as she tries. She’s fascinated with her own reflection and has been known to spend time in front of the mirror staring at her pretty face and distinctive curly possum-like tail.
She lazes around most of the day until it is time to go on her walk. Day-time walks a fairly uneventful – she’s great on a lead and friendly with all the dogs and people she meets on the journey. Night-time walks are more entertaining. She suddenly decides that the rocks on the floor are lava, and she will jump around the place like a leap-frog to avoid them at all costs. It’s like walking an excitable child.
Astrid would be happy as an only dog or living with another doggy companion. Placid, gentle and affectionate, Astrid and her sweet nature will leave an irreplaceable mark on your heart.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
