About Ember
(Almost) 2-year-old hurricane hound Ember is looking for her forever home.
Ember is the quirkiest, silliest and sweetest hound in touch. She will make you laugh all day long and wants to be everyone’s best friend.
Ember is happily living as an only dog in foster care however we think she would also suit a home with another greyhound or large breed dog. Ember loves company and is not suited to living people who are away from home for FT working hours. If Ember is the only dog in her new home, she needs humans who are around for company most of the time. Ember’s foster carers have been working on ‘alone time’ and ‘relaxation’ training with her, and is making progress. A new home should be prepared to continue with this training and to slowly build up time spent alone.
Ember loves going for walks and is well-mannered on leash. She’s not too bothered by traffic, other dogs, or loud noises. Being a young hound, Ember still has a lot of puppy energy, and would do best in a house with a backyard to play in and energetic people. In addition to two walks per day, Ember likes to spend time zooming, playing, and gratefully receiving affection from her humans.
Ember is currently in foster care in a home with 3 kids and is generally patient, however she is a dog who likes her own space when sleeping or resting and any humans – big or small – need to respect this. She also has a tendency to take random items from around the house and ‘resource guard’ them. Her carers have been teaching her to ‘drop and leave’ or ‘trade up’. For this reason, Ember is best suited to a home with dog-savvy older children only (or all adults).
Ember is a clever girl, and eager to learn, and will suit a home with patience and energy and a desire to continue her learning. If you are looking for a hound with a big and cheeky personality, Ember could be just the hound for you!
