BREED: Maltese X Shih Tzu

General breed traits: Maltese: The Maltese is easy going, affectionate, lively, intelligent and sweet tempered. They do not tolerate being left alone and are definitely inside dogs as they suffer in extremes of temperature. Maltese adore their family, are pretty dog friendly but can be a little wary of strangers. They are low shedders but require regular grooming. Smart and playful they are quite easy to train. A small dog with big trousers, they can have a tendency to bark at unknown sights and sounds.

Shih Tzu: lively, intelligent, spunky, affectionate, outgoing with happy temperaments. They have an ability to get on with people of all ages, other dogs and pet species. They can suffer from the heat and cold so are not outside dogs. They are companion/lap dogs and just want to be with their people.

ASSETS: Affectionate, devoted, friendly, obedient, sensitive, quiet and extremely sweet!

FAVOURITE THINGS: He's a quiet boy who loves to play with his stuffed toys. He's very affectionate and loves to spend time with his people. He loves his doggy treats and will stand on his back legs excitedly when he knows he's about to get fed some!

OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other friendly dogs generally but is a little nervous around big and boisterous dogs. He is friendly with cats so would be fine with a cat in his new home.

GENERAL INFO: Mojo is an absolute delight. He walks quietly on the lead, is housetrained, rarely barks and knows a few commands. He does get nervous around loud people so a quiet home with no children will be perfect for him. He also likes to greet the odd visitor, including gentle children, and will happily sit on your lap for hours. He has always lived with another small female dog and could do so again.

HOME ESSENTIALS:
* Stability: A quiet home where someone is there for most of the day on a permanent basis (not just through Covid 19) or can take him with them when they go out.
* Time: Mojo will need gentle daily exercise.
* Space: Mojo needs a well fenced, secure yard with some grass and interesting things for him to sniff.
* Love: Mojo needs to be allowed to be inside or out as he chooses, sleep inside at night and to be included as part of the family in his twilight years.

Due to his senior years Mojo has been diagnosed with a heart murmur. He is on medication to control this condition and his quality of life is not affected. He will require vet checks when necessary to keep him healthy and happy.
