About Frida
Frida is very sweet-natured, affectionate, loyal and intelligent. She is also an extraordinarily resilient girl who has bounced back from an incredibly tough start in life and wins hearts wherever she goes!
Frida loves going for walks day and night, especially if she gets to meet other dogs while out and about. She has a very strong sheepdog instinct that sees her creeping up low to the ground whenever she encounters a dog, much to the amusement of the humans around. She absolutely loves to chase and round them up, however when she catches them she's a bit at a loss as to what to do with them!
Frida's other hobbies include chewing bones and other dog chews, occasionally tossing around a toy, stealing socks and thongs, getting kibble out of a special ball, snoozing in the sun or in front of the TV in the evening, licking her people and getting her belly rubbed. She adores rides in the car and all of the adventures that can bring; she likes to meet new people, and explore new environments. She also loves a training session, especially with high reward treats. At the moment she is doing really well with 'sit', 'come', 'lie down', 'up' and 'on your bed'. She's also getting better at 'wait' and starting to learn 'shake'. Areas that still need work include not jumping up on people when she gets excited. She's super smart and would benefit from continuing training as she loves to please her people and earn those treats!
Frida is friendly and has never returned so much as a growl when she encounters dogs that don't want to say hello. She's only met one cat while in our care, and her reaction was pure frozen fascination. With children she just wants to sniff or gently lick. We feel confident that with diligent care she can be trained to live with cats or children.
Frida is an absolutely treasure of a dog and we are looking for a home that truly deserves her. Frida will need;
- At least two walks per day
- Access to a nearby off-leash area so that she can run off lead and play with other dogs
- Someone who likes to have adventures and take their dog with them
- We are open to homes that have other dogs / cats / kids, however please note we are not looking for a home where you are unable to give enough time to your current pets and just looking for 'company' for a lonely dog. If you have kids then please only apply if you have relatively calm kids, not a chaotic household.
- People who are interested in training. Frida is too smart not to have further training and it would be a great way to bond with her and stimulate her.
- Frida has had almost 24/7 care and company while she has been in recovery from some injuries, so we are looking for someone who currently spends most of their time at home and would be in a position to help her gradually adjust to spending time alone.
- People who are committed to giving her nutritious food, regular vet checks, and have zero tolerance for violence in their household.
If you are interested in adopting Frida please fill out an application form on the All 4 Paws website: https://www.all4pawsdogrescue.com.au/dog-adoption-formexpression-of-interest.html
