About Buddy ~ 23mo Foxhound (On Trial 29/11/20)
My name is Buddy and I am a 23 month old male Foxhound. I am a big gentle giant that loves people. I have been called a "social butterfly". I have big floppy ears with big brown eyes. My foster mum says I am a ladies man. My foster mum is guessing that I am around 35-40kg mark. But I still think I’m only 5kgs and sit or lean on her all the time. Everyone who see’s me falls in love with me instantly! So boys, line up cause right here is your perfect wingman! No one can go past a big set of brown eyes!
My foster mum takes me everywhere with her (shops, dr appts, etc). I have to say hello to everyone and then I settle down. I LOVE PEOPLE!!! I love going for rides in the car and walks. As I am a hunting breed my foster mum lets me run and sniff on a very long lead and its lots of fun. I love to play fetch with balls or toys and love a good tug o war with my rope. I also love sun baking and chewing on bones. I do like to wear my jacket when it’s cold and raining.
I have been coming inside little for bits as I never was allowed inside prior to meeting my foster mum. And I like snuggling on the lounge with my foster mum and my duck or lambie. I let my foster mum know when I want to go outside again. My foster mum has to hide the bin cause I do like to stick my head in it and eat whatever I can, even if I am not allowed. I do also look and sniff bench tops for any leftover food. But once I know there is nothing there I leave it alone.
I am very food motivated given my breeding. And have progressed with my training but I do need more help. I will sit for my dinner or treats and will be gentle most of the time. I love my bed and after dinner will curl up and watch tv through the door before I go to sleep. Sleeping inside is new to me and sometimes I get put back outside as I won't settle.
I have been socialised with other dogs and will run from the yap yaps that try to bite/bark at me. I am good with kids but I forget how big I am and may knock them over accidentally. I do sometimes like to jump on people. I am slowly learning not to do this. I don't bark much only when I feel there is a threat to my people. Most of my foster mums neighbours don’t even know I exist. My one big fault is I want to chase the kangaroos when we go out to feed mum's horses or late afternoon walks. So I probably wont suit a farm or bush environment.
Although I don’t really jump, solid and tall fencing would be the best for me. Just because of my size. Ideally 5-6ft colourbond secure fencing with no holes or gaps.
I can get very oily skin. But my foster mum gives me ‘sensitive’ foods and may occasionally use maleseb wash to give me a bath and all is ok.
If you are interested please email my foster mum on BuddyDRN@outlook.com for more information about meeting me. My adoption fee is $600 which includes desexing, vaccinations and microchipping. I am up to date with all worming and flea treatments. I am located in wine country in the Hunter Valley NSW (west of Newcastle NSW).
