About Dodger
Meet lovable little Dodge
Dodge had virtually no human contact before coming into foster care so is understandably nervous around new people and in new places. We are working on this and his confidence improves in leaps and bounds every day.
He is a bundle of energy, loves running and galloping around playing with his toys. He loves a good game of tug of war as well, he super strong a little guy! He doesn't bark too often at the moment, only when he is really excited in playing. He also loves a good snuggle and getting his tummy scratched. He likes to give lots of kisses so beware! He is well behaved and chills with his Foster mum at cafes and sitting in the park. Dodge also loves exploring the yard and tasting all the sticks in sight. He needs lots of interaction to keep him happy.
Dodge is a very intelligent puppy. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night. He will come out through the night to toilet on puppy pads and goes back in. He goes in there for his meals and treats and when he wants to nap. Dodge will put himself in his crate when feeling overwhelmed as it’s his safe place so it’s super important his new home utilises his crate training to help him to adjust in his new home.
He will sometimes sit under the couch when he is feeling overwhelmed or wants a little nap as well! He is also toilet trained to use puppy pads.
He is still learning to walk on a leash and take car rides without being fearful but we are confident that this will improve with lots more positive adventures. Dodge has a lot to learn about the world and needs a family to show him how much fun the world is. This will take time and lots of training/confidence building.
Dodge needs a lot of on going socialisation with people and dogs this is critical.
He is very wary with new dogs and takes a while to warm up to them.
A home with a confident stable well socialised dog would be perfect for him but not a deal breaker. Please note dog parks is NOT a controlled environment and would set him back further as its overwhelming. He needs lots of controlled play dates with dog social dogs where he can slowly and calmly be introduced to them. Puppy school would be hugely beneficial for him also
Dodge is a lovable little guy and and is worth all the time you spend with.
Please note Dodge is a mix of working breeds and will be a medium sized dog full grown he is already very tall.
It is super important that he goes to a family experienced with working dogs as just a walk is not enough they need a lot of mental stimulation aswell.
