About Bentley
This beautiful boy is Bentley, a three year old purebred Labrador Retriever.
Bentley is a very handsome boy with the softest creamy coat, so you will want to give him lots of pats! Which he loves of course.
But his foster carer says that looks aren’t everything and he still has lots of learning to do. Labradors tend to be puppies for a few years and he has had a very sheltered life so far and everything is still very new to him. So think of Bentley as an oversized puppy who will need ongoing socialising and training.
Because Bentley is not dog social we are stipulating that he goes to an only dog home.
Bentley is very smart and in just a few weeks he have learnt basic commands and manners, however he can still get very excited, so sometimes he just does zoomies instead of obedience! It’s fun!
When Bentley is calm he’s learnt to have cuddles on the couch and sleep inside or outside as he is house trained.
He is very playful and loves to play so much! His favourite is chasey and tug-o-war with teddies. Bentley can be very boisterous so I would not be ready to be around little humans just yet as he’d probably knock them over in his enthusiasm.
He is getting better every interaction he still needs a lot of work to make him feel comfortable and lots and lots of practice socialising in a safe environment with lots of positive experiences.
Bentley has had a wonderful trainer Scott Harris work with him, and this should continue.
He is learning to walk on the lead and has come a long way but he is very strong and will need more training on this too so regular of calm steady walks are needed.
Bentley’s new home needs good fences so he doesn’t escape and ideally someone who is home a lot or who can spend plenty of quality time with him every day.
Bentley will make a superb companion for someone who understands his needs, but we expect a lot of applications and will be choosing the very best home for him, not just the first.
