Hi friends!
My name is Winnie and I am a beautiful girl in search of her new happy ending. I was surrendered to OTC by my owner as she wasn't able to provide care for a dog anymore. It is no fault of mine, I simply grew up and things changed- it is sad, but it happens- and I was glad my carer took me to OTC so I could try again for my furever home. I was welcomed into the OTC family and have been an absolute pleasure to care for!
I came in not knowing a lot; I would jump up on people for attention, bark at other dogs in excitement, jump on the furniture etc - but in just one week of being surrendered, I was a well mannered, easy going dog! The difference was incredible once I started getting basic training and boundaries. I am now really well behaved on my walks, I have learned which couch is the 'dog couch', I stay out of the kitchen, and I no longer bark at other dogs in excitement. I've learned that only calm, well mannered dogs get attention and privilege here! My favourite toy is my ball, and I absolutely love playing with other dogs too. The dog park is my favourite place!! My carers only go with other people they know are responsible owners (some dog parks are a hot mess!) and we always have a ton of fun there. I also really love my walks as it's a great way to bond with my people. I live with another dog my age, and we get along perfectly. I also live with a 9yr old human child who I am very good with, as well as 2 adult humans. My carers both work full time, so I am used to being home alone for about 9hrs a day. My yard is pretty small, but I don't mind- I only have medium energy levels so it's my walks and mental stimulation/enrichment that is important for me, not the size of your space!
My ideal home has 4ft fencing+, another dog for company, and will take me out 4+ times a week for exercise. I like to sleep in an open crate/kennel at night time, and being a pretty teenager, I will thrive with boundaries and positive reinforcement. Don't look into my eyes and let me get away with it all- I may be cute, but I am also very smart and will learn what you want from me very quickly! I am a really nice, gentle and responsive dog. I am well suited to anyone with basic dog handling experience, full time workers, and have no known phobias, fears or training requirements. I haven't met cats, so probably should not live with any.
So, what do you think? Am I the one for you? If so, I'd love to see an application from you! I am available for meets now and can't wait to find my new family!
Adoption details
PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All pets must be collected from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld- this is adopter responsibility. We appreciate your understanding.

Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
