About Duster
I arrived at Lort Smith covered in fleas and lice. As you can imagine the itchiness was driving me crazy and created some sores. The staff had to shave half of my fur off to give me some relief. I know I’m not looking my best at the moment, but I’m hoping you can see past it.
I’m can be shy at first but once I warm up, I like to lean in for head rubs. I’m a gentle boy and would love nothing more than to be by your side while you watch TV, bask in the sunshine on a window ledge, or curl up next to you while you sleep.
I'm seeking patient adopters that understand that it will take some time for me to settle in and gain my confidence.
Once my fur grows back, I'll need regular brushing to help me looking and feeling my best.
I am positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), but don't worry - cats with FIV can live perfectly happy and healthy lives. It just means I am an indoor-only cat - this suits me just fine, as all I want is a warm and safe home to call my own, and humans to share my life with.
I will be available as a foster with a view to adopt to ensure I do not have a skin flare up in my new home.
My new family will receive guidance from the staff while settling in to my new home and my progress will be regularly reviewed to determine whether I need ongoing treatment. When I’ve made the right progress, the adoption can be finalised – and I’ll be all yours!
My new family will need to finish off my skin soothing cream and also promise to keep up with my flea treatments - this has been quite a traumatic experience I hope to never go through again!
If you can provide a loving home for a guy like me, please contact the Adoption Hub to make an appointment.
Medical notes
FIV positive.
Skin issues resulting from fleas/lice. Hence the haircut!
