About Winston (Spike)
Winston cruises through life without a care in the world. If we had to sum him up in one word it would be CHILLED. If you are looking any easy-going dog who loves the simple things in life, Winston is the boy for you.
Nothing phases Winston. He’s happiest around people but he likes his alone time too. Winston is curious and excited by other dogs. His favourite thing to do is go to the local park and spend the afternoon making new friends. He zig zags on his lead all the way there, almost skipping with happiness! He may like living with another dog for company in his new home.
Apart from his walks, Winston spends the rest of him time lying down. It doesn’t matter where, when or how, Winston will find a way to have a snooze no matter the situation. He has been known to fall asleep in the most curious places; on concrete, at the park, even on a train! Nothing gets between this boy and his sleep.
Winston is a total dream. He’s super lovely, gentle, quiet and affectionate. His only cheeky habit is stealing items off benches. He will collect anything he can get his paws on. Thankfully, he rarely destroys the item, but a watchful eye will be needed to avoid any precious items disappearing. You could never be mad, one look into his puppy-dog eyes and all will be forgiven!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
