About Leo
Meet Leo
Leo is a very happy and energetic young man. He will thrive in a home where he will receive lots of walks, regular exercise and most importantly, loads of mental stimulation/training and activities to keep his busy mind challenged. He has a huge personality and always keeps his foster family entertained with his crazy puppy antics :)
Considering Leo's high energy levels, he will be looking for a home with a good sized yard where he will have lots of room to run and play and an equally active, desexed canine companion will be a MUST. He will be too much energy for a senior dog or a calmer breed.
Leo needs a doggy friend so a home as an only dog will not be an option for him to be happy. To avoid disappointment, please don't apply unless you have another active dog in your home.
Gorgeous Leo came to us with his mum and siblings when he was just over a month old. We noticed that his left eye did not look quite right. After many vet visits and a recent trip to the eye specialist, we have found out that Leo has a cataract. There is a good chance that this will not affect him in the future but if it does there are options that can be discussed. He is due for a check up early next year and the specialist will know more after this visit. We will stay in touch during this time and are happy to answer any questions. Further information is in the 'Medical Notes' section below.
Leo has had a wonderful start to life! He been well trained, well loved and well socialised with other dogs and people of all ages. Being young and still learning rules and boundaries, Leo can sometimes try and test limits to see what he can and can't get away with. Continued training will be important for him to understand routine and what his family expect from him.
LEO IS NOT SUITED TO A HOME WITH CATS.
This adorable boy is full of beans, very friendly and extremely clever. He will require an active lifestyle and will not cope as an only dog. He will be looking for a loving home with lots of room and an energetic, desexed doggy pal to share his days with.
Leo is currently in care in Preston
Medical notes
When he first arrived, we noticed something suspicious with Leo’s left eye.
After recently visiting the specialist at Melbourne Eye Vet, it has been confirmed that Leo has a cataract. At this stage, it doesn’t affect him or his vision.
The vet has said that it may never progress but can be managed in the future if necessary. They have requested a check up in March 2021 to see how he is going and they should know more then.
If it was to affect him, it shouldn’t be any time soon and if/when it does, daily drops will most likely be the appropriate long term treatment. If this doesn’t work, further discussions will be had to decide on the next step.
Dogs can cope quite well with vision in only one eye but this is worse case scenario.
***His new family will need to be prepared to travel to the eye specialist in Mulgrave for his follow up appointment.
Adoption details
If you think one of our animals would be a good match for your home please email us and we will be in touch shortly after. We all work fulltime, have families and other commitments so your patience is appreciated.
We do require any other dogs in your home meeting our foster animal before they head home with you. This enables us to assess their compatibility and helps prevent them being returned and creating more confusion/insecurities for the foster animal.
All our animals are available for a two week trial with full refund. They are also covered by a lifetime return policy. If you ever find yourself unable to care for or keep your pet please contact us and they will come back into our care, this is a condition of our Adoptions.
