About Custard
Custard, named for his creamy soft coat is finally ready to find his forever home.
His background: Custard was rescued from a country pound after being trapped with his sister. Both Custard and his sister were quite timid at first, probably due to having minimal contact with humans. Custard was definitely the shy one, with humans anyway. Pie was adopted fairly quickly, while Custard remained in care to spend some time getting used to people.
Poor custard has spent quite a bit of time in care because of a skin infection that was very persistent! Fortunately that has allowed him time to gradually get used to human contact.
It has taken a while, but Custard has come a long way.
Custard now: While still timid at times, Custard is basically a puppy. He follows his foster carers around and trots alongside them. He has loads of energy and is always ready to rumble with the other cats in the house. He LOVES to play with other cats and is obsessed with toys. He carries his favourites around in his mouth so he always knows where they are. When it is time to rest, Custard is happy to curl up on the lounge and watch some tv. He has started seeking us out for pats and cuddles which is amazing!
Suitable homes: As I said, Custard is definitely timid around people and it will take time and patience for him to trust new people. He is probably not a good option for a house with young children, as he will probably be quite scared of them!
Being a teenage kitten, he is basically like a human toddler on drugs. he moves super fast, isn't very coordinated and is certain to do something crazy everyday. He is still learning boundaries and will need a patient teacher.
Custard is EXTREMELY playful with other cats. I think he would do well with another cat of similar age, or at least under 12 months. He might be a bit too full on for senior animals. He hasn't had much contact with dogs (apart from through the fence) but I think if you have a cat friendly dog, he would used to it.
If you're fairly experienced with timid cats, or are willing to work with a timid cat, please fill out our application which is linked at the bottom of the page. :)
Medical notes
Custard is microchipped, vaccinated, desexed, reguarly worm and flea treated.
