About Wally
Wally is a five year old energetic staffy x with so much love to give!
He was surrendered to us by his loving owners who were no longer able to look after him. He is an incredibly happy dog who is constantly wagging his tail, and loves nothing more than getting a pat and a cuddle! Wally has been house trained, and can sit and high five on command. His foster carers have been working with Wally to teach him how to manage his excitement as he is easily overstimulated. This translates into Wally being quite barky, especially at other dogs while out for a walk, but this is just noise - not any kind of aggression. He has lived with small dogs in the past, but he will take time and encouragement to be comfortable with any new dogs as family members as he has not been socialised with very many dogs. He will need a home where his training can continue, as Wally has a few points that need working on, and he can get a little anxious and work himself up when left alone. He requires two walks a day at the moment along with exercise time in a yard big enough for him to run around in as he has some kilos to shed. He will also need to continue on a controlled diet to keep his weight in check until he reaches an optimal weight for his size and activity level. His recall needs work, and he can be very determined on lead so will need some training to teach him not to pull.
He would flourish in an active home where he is not left alone for long stretches of time, with an experienced dog person/people who will give him the support he requires. He is excellent with more forgiving dogs (as he has no manners), and kids, but is a very excitable dog so may not be suitable for a home with younger children who he may be able to knock over. He has not been tested with cats inside a house, but has shown excitement towards them when he has walked past cats on the street.
If you have experience and time to invest in Wally's ongoing training, you will be rewarded with a loving canine companion beyond compare! Are you the alpha Wally is dying to love? If you are, enquire now!
Wally has been wormed, flea treated, vaccinated, desexed and microchipped (microchip #900032002782578, source #RE101165). He is available for adoption right now! His adoption fee also includes his second vaccination at one of our rescue vets.
------------------------------------------------------
To adopt a cat from Cat People you'll be required to have a remote or in-person house check done, show photo ID & proof of address, and fill out & sign an adoption contract.
Cats from our group are all are vet checked, flea treated, wormed, vaccinated and desexed before being taken home by their adopters. Additionally, all of our cats have been evaluated for behavioural traits, fed a high-quality diet, and well socialised. Please note: all Cat People cats and kittens are indoor only, this is not negotiable.
We will communicate with you through every step of the adoption process to ensure that your experience (and the cat's) is excellent and that you are confident in your decision to adopt a feline companion. Returns are only accepted due to health issues confirmed by a veterinarian.
We only accept adoptions from people with residency in Australia. If you are on a work or student visa, talk to us about fostering with the group instead!
