About Mauri
Mauri is one of those special black greyhounds with a face like an angel. His perpetually puppy-like appearance endears him to everyone he meets and makes him all too easily forgiven for any cheeky behaviour he might show!
Mauri has settled into his new life as a pet exceptionally well. He thinks he has won the lottery by being able to live in a warm house with a soft bed and yummy food, not to mention he can have cuddles anytime of the day. Despite his size, Mauri has little spatial awareness. He’s super clumsy and will try to squeeze into the smallest of spaces, despite his obvious size. A full couch with seemingly no extra room is the perfect challenge. He will try to smoosh himself in between the humans, legs sprawling all over the place until he is wedged comfortably in prime position for pats and spooning. He loves fiercely and is very loyal to his humans.
Mauri loves people of all ages and is gentle with everyone he meets. He is becoming more interactive with other dogs over time, but generally doesn’t seem to phased by them. He would do well as an only dog as long as someone is often home to give him the attention he deserves. He would like two walks a day - one big walk in the morning when he has the most energy and a short one to finish the day. The rest of the time he is content to snooze and lounge about luxuriously, lapping up every second of his new life as a loved pet.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
