About Zahara
My big beautiful, protective and loving girl in now ready to start the search for her forever homeNow before we all get over excited and apply because she is so pretty and fluffy please dont waste my time or yours by applying if you do not meet the criteriaZahara is a breed called aÂ Ć arplaninacShe is the most affectionate . a loving and well behaved girl that will not let you downShe walks like a queen on the lead, and her favorite thing is to see you bring the lead out as her days revolve around her going for a walk. Zahara LOVES the car and even if its a short trip to the shops she thinks its XmasShe is a fierce protector of the car and its important to keep windows closed in public areas as she will be very stroppy if people come near her car
Breed Temperament The Sarplaninac is independent â it wonât submit to the owner, but rather choose its master. Loyal, reliable, and incorruptible, this shepherd dog is a desired temperament archetype.Calm and reserved, it is very protective but never snappy. Devoted to its master, highly territorial and always alert, it is the ideal shepherd dog. A pure breed specimen will be gentle, serene and calm when around small kids and smaller dogs, but consistent and firm training is of utmost importance to ensure compliance. It is known that the Sarplaninac dog is especially reserved until the danger presents itself, when he becomes a formidable foe.Highly intelligent, they are susceptible to training, and guarding large flocks without the supervision of their master.Zahara came from a small suburban backyard where these does are not suited to live in Because of their protective nature, the Sar will bark at everything they feel as a threat ( and its aloud bark) this does not suite suburban livingZahara is also very very protective of her home so this also meant that nobody except her owner could enter the yard. Zahara is not all bark no biteLet me be very clear, She will bite strangersI have been working with Zahara for nearly 2 months nowShe is not great with large stock so will not make a sheep guardian but has been working extremely well with poultry. She has coincided with a large flock of chickens ( in a chicken enclosure for at least 6 weeks and has been brilliant. Even when young chicks hatched and they went in and out the fence she has not hurt them. I have had her off lead while the chickens free ranged ( supervised) for short amounts of time and this went exceptionally well so I feel that with ongoing training this will be her strength Zahara is not good with other dogs so please DO not apply if you have any notion to try and adopt her if you have another another dog that you plan to work her withZahara is not at all an escape artist and will stay within the boundaries of rural fencing , not digging out and will not attempt to jump out. In saying that due to her breed she cannot go to a home that does not have a minimum of ring lock fencing of better to keep strangers safe as i said she is very protective of her home and peopleZahara is really a one to 2 people girl at heart , although I feel with an extremely eperciend home and correct introductions she would love children, I am not prepared to put her into a family environment with young children as her well being is my first and foremost focus and if it went wrong I would never forgive myselfI am seeking an experienced home with guardian or protection dogs for herThis is not up for negotiation as she is just too precious for me to get this wrong.
