About Franco
*In foster care in Camperdown, Sydney*
Franco is a soulful lad who loves feeling the breeze in his fur, being outside in the world and eating treats. Being a teenager, he's ever-curious and also knows his own mind :)
He almost never barks (very un-Jack Russell-like!). He's a polite little dude overall, with gorgeous amber eyes, an adorably scruffy rough coat and just the loveliest temperament in the world.
Franco used to live in a flat with another small dog, who he doted on, but apartment dwelling is not really well-suited to this Outdoors Guy. Sometimes worried in new environments, his new people will need to give him time to come out of his shell and learn he is safe in his forever home.
An extremely well-behaved boy, Franco is fine with his own company but owners who can be around often (or another friendly, smallish doggo?) would be perfect.
He's toilet-trained and knows some commands when walking, like 'wait' and 'OK, go!' - but he will definitely benefit from some more basic training to learn recall and to help with his shyness.
Like all Maggie's pets, Franco is microchipped, desexed and vaccinated.

MY IDEAL HOME: ... will be quiet and calm, with a loving person, couple or older family who will be endlessly patient and kind as I find my feet and settle in. Apartment living is not for me, unfortunately. My new home will ideally have a doggy door to a courtyard or secure garden where I can take myself out as I please :)
I am a confident lad outside, but can be shy indoors. Once I get to trust my owners, my more playful side definitely comes out! I don't always love being picked up or cuddled, but I'll let you know when I need some attention. (Often that's first thing in the morning - I love a little tummy scratch while I'm still sleepy!)
MY ENERGY LEVEL: I have loads of energy - the good kind! If I see you putting shoes on I get excited and AM READY to join you. I will zoom all over the place, doing my best to hurry you up!
Walking is the BEST! I can happily walk all day, and will need at least two long daily walks on my leash to keep happy and healthy.
I prefer to be outside rather than inside. For this reason I need a home with a secure garden, as I used to live in a flat, but would be so much happier with my own grassy space to roll around in.
I have tried my paw at paddling at the dog beach, and going to dog-friendly cafes and pubs, which I love. Anywhere you go, I am happy to go too :)
MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: I haven't spent any time with kids since coming into foster care, but because I can be a bit timid sometimes, I don't think younger children are for me. Kids of school age and older might be OK!
MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: Other dogs my own size are great! - but I find bigger ones quite intimidating. I haven't had the chance to meet any cats yet.

We ask all people looking to adopt to fill in our adoption enquiry form at
https://form.jotform.co/80677377750872. Please use this link rather than the 'Enquire' button on the pet's PetRescue profile to streamline your enquiry.
Our foster carer will contact you when we receive your application to arrange a time for you to meet with their foster pet.
We want your adoption through Maggie's to be a good experience so we will occasionally suggest a different cat or dog that may suit your situation better and the needs of the individual pet.
All our pets leave for their new homes on a two week trial. At the end of the trial, we will transfer the microchip into your name and provide you with the pets vet certificates. Once you receive the Certificate of Identification from council, your adoption will be complete.
Please consider, that a Maggie's Pet is a pet for Life, before adopting.
