About Sam
Sam is king of cool. He is big, strong and independent, but with a sweet, melty heart that will never say no to cuddles.
Although he was a little shy at first arriving in foster care, Sam has grown in leaps and bounds since those initial nervous days. In a matter of weeks he has conquered the stairs, toilet training and slowly but surely, come out of his shell. Now Sam spends his life going from one pleasantry to the next. His days are bookmarked by walking, sleeping, cuddles and eating – and that’s just the way he likes it.
Like many dogs, Sam finds joy in the simple things in life. He gets particularly excited before walk time as he bounds around the house in joy when he knows it’s time to leave. This is prime ‘play-time’ and it is recommended humans join in for maximum fun! Dinner time is another highlight as he jumps up and down, desperately trying to catch a glimpse of his yummy meal before it is placed before him.
Sam is an easy-going boy who would be fine living as an only dog. He loves affection and hopes his new family will enjoy playing with him and letting him sleep by their feet.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
