Medical Notes - Coraline has Pectus Excavatum and has had surgery to correct it as much as possible. She has a metal plate that runs along her sternum (breast bone).
Sweet little Coraline came to us about 5 months ago as a transfer from a NSW shelter. They noted her to have some serious chest deformities and asked if we could take her on into rescue. Coraline was born with Pectus Excavatum, a congenital condition which causes her sternum to grow at an incorrect angle. This left her heart and lungs with very little room in her chest cavity, and made it hard for her to breathe, and limited her ability to excersise.
Coraline has had surgery to correct her sternum as much as possible, and has a metal plate that runs along her breast bone. This pulls her sternum downwards and has allowed it to sit at a more normal angle, therefore allowing her heart and lungs to have more room.
She has recovered from her huge surgery amazingly, and the end result has been excellent. Coraline now runs around like a normal cat, chasing toys and playing with her kitty friends. She is a very sweet and gentle girl, who although can take a while to trust her humans, once she does she loves you a lot. She is looking for a home who will let her settle in slowly, and provide her with lots of attention and love. Coraline is very submissive around other cats, and needs a home with a cat who is gentle and doesn't bully her. She would adjust to a gentle dog well, however would like a home without children.
Xrays and further details about Coraline's surgery and condition will be provided during a successful meet and greet. Coraline is looking for a 100% indoor only home. ❤

If you would like to know more information about any of our rescue animals, our rescue group, or to arrange a meet and greet, please email us. Please provide us with your name, email address, contact number, and some information about yourself, and the home you have to offer one of our rescue animals.
Please understand that Gary and the Handicats is run by a Vet Nurse who works 2 jobs and also cares for sick and high needs rescue animals. We strive to get back to you within 24 hours, but during busy kitten seasons their may be a delay. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Please note we do not run on a "first in first served" basis. We screen applicants well before proceeding with adoption. Vet and rental references may be required for certain special needs adoptions.
We receive a large amount of interest in our handraised kittens, and certain special needs animals. Please understand that if you're application isn't successful, this may just be due to the amount of applications we have had for that particular animal, and not because of the home you have to offer. Preference is always given to our past adopters.
