Does this sounds like your household, read on!
We’re looking for a special home, for a very special and loving husky girl, Ghost. She’s has many, many years of love and devotion to give, and we know the right home and human is out there for her!
Ghost was surrendered to RSPCA with health issues a result of increased weight being ignored. She was 40 kg and diagnosed with hypothyroidism when we took her in. She requires medication daily and a specific diet, this will be for the remainder of life.
Her dedicated carer is happy to report she is now 32kgs. That’s a huge 8 kgs she’s lost since mid October. Her ideal weight should be around 26kg. So not far to go now.
Hypothyroidism is very easy to manage with specific diet, exercise, daily medication, blood tests to check correct dosage as she looses weight.
Ghost’s had recent visit to an Ophthalmologist for a full examination of her eyes. Good news is at this stage treating her with a cream should help resolve her eye issues along with her weight loss. So looking like she won’t have to lose her eye YAY
Homes for Huskies will provide all the support to her new person to continue her path to a healthy weight and continue to be financially involved until she is at her ideal weight and her eye is fully treated.
Ghost is very good on lead, great with larger dogs, knows sit and down / drop, and will ‘stay’ if it’s said with firmness. She’s a Very Good Girl who know to stay out of carpeted rooms if she’s told ‘out’ or ‘stay’ on introduction. She also doesn’t climb furniture or dig.
She has lived with another female Husky and male GSD previously – currently she is foster care as an only dog.
Ghost is quiet, doesn’t mind storms, likes to play, but then she’s happy to be your shadow. She needs a person who is home more often than not, and she’ll stay close to you.
When she puts herself to bed for the night she has “husky hearing” and won’t get up until the morning. This lady needs her beauty sleep!
Ghost is fine with older kids in short stints (she doesn’t live with them long-term) and currently walks twice a day for 45 mins as part of her weight-loss regime. When she’s done walking, she lags behind to let you know, but has started to run for short periods during her daily walks, which is an excellent sign for her future health and wellbeing.
She’s food oriented and the rustle of a plastic packet will have her moving faster than lightning. It also means medications are very easy to administer and instructions are followed.
Ghost is great in the car, housetrained, very gently and sweet, loves people and is the perfect husky in so many respects. She just need a bit of help through her current health hurdle and she’ll be a joyful husky to have for many, many years to come.
The usual husky rules apply, with no cats or pocket pets, secure 5 – 6 foot fencing, love, exercise, and we’ll help and support with her immediate medical needs.
Ghost is not available for interstate adoption. Not suitable for apartment living, rural properties or residences with court yards.
