About Scarlett ~ Belgian Malinois x (on trial 10/11/20)
Scarlett is a sweet natured 4-month-old female Belgian Malinois x Staffy. She is a typical playful puppy and loves toys and the company of other dogs.
Scarlett also enjoys zooming around the yard and especially loves when one person stands on one side of the yard and another person on the other side so she can zoom between them! She has lovely manners and while Scarlett gets very excited when she first sees you, with gentle guidance she settles quickly and has learned how to sit when asked.
This little lady isn’t going to be so little when she is fully grown. We imagine she will be the size of a Belgian Malinois, maybe a touch smaller due to the staffy in her. As a high drive breed, she is going to require a lot of stimulation and exercise. She loves bones, Kongs and puzzle games and isn’t a fussy eater. Scarlett is a very intelligent girl and learns extremely quickly. She would make a great companion for someone who wants to do dog sports.
While Scarlett is a perfectly good puppy with normal behavior at home, this little lady is going to need some help with exposure to the outside world. She can get a little overwhelmed and sometimes even nervous wees herself when outside of her comfort zone. We believe she didn’t have any exposure to anything outside of a backyard until now so she will need someone understanding to help build her confidence.
Scarlett has been living with two other large dogs and three cats and is extremely respectful of other animals. Due to her slightly anxious nature, sweet Scarlett is going to require a home with another adult dog to give her guidance and comfort. This other dog would preferably be male as there could potentially be territorial issues as she reaches maturity.
Scarlett is perfectly happy to be out in the backyard sleeping and playing all day while you get on with things as long as she has canine company. If she is alone in the backyard with no other dogs she will cry and bark as well as becoming destructive.
All applicants need to keep in mind that Scarlett has typical puppy behavior and is going to grow into a large energetic dog. Due to this, she will need to go to a home with dog savvy children 12 years and up as she could accidentally knock them over.
During the night Scarlett is sleeping in a crate in the lounge room. While it takes some time to get her to go into her crate initially, she has crate trained very quickly and now settles in the crate within minutes.
Scarlett is in foster care in Mayfield West, NSW (Newcastle), and is available for local adoption only. For more information or to meet Scarlett, please submit an online application here: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
