About Todd
Terrific Todd - Long-termer alert!
Big handsome panther Todd is currently our most long-term resident - he's been with us since February.
Now we'll be honest, he's still here for a reason. It's not as though he's a sweet angel who keeps getting overlooked.
Todd is a butthead. He just needs someone who will love him anyway.
It's not his fault and he's trying really hard and has made lots of progress! But still, he's kind of a jerk.
Todd was trapped by a pest control company in an industrial area and was destined to be 'exterminated' but thankfully that didn't happen - he may not be perfect but he's not vermin 😢
After living his entire life on the streets in an environment where he was clearly a tough guy who had to fight to survive, it makes sense that he isn't exactly a cuddle bunny. I can kind of picture his sleek black coat like a leather jacket on a street-smart kid who is just trying to make their way... maybe his name should be Fonzie??
Anyway, I digress.
When he first arrived Todd was terrified. He was so afraid that he would set himself when I was putting food in his crate or changing his litter tray. If he wasn't wetting himself, he was aggressively lashing out at me (and he's not exactly small!)
It has taken months and months for Todd to improve at all and he still has a way to go but we would love to find him a home of his own to continue his journey.
Todd does not tolerate being touched yet. He will still lash out and swipe at you. He talks to you with an adorable little baby meow and he will smooch all around against his scratching post etc - but not on people yet.
He can't be stroked yet and certainly can't be picked up.
There's so much potential but he's unlikely to ever be a real cuddler.
What Todd is looking for is a home with no expectations.
Will you be his friend one day? Yes. Will that day be soon? I don't know. It might be in a month or two or six. What will being his friend look like? It might just be talking and sharing a space. It might be pats.
What Todd needs is love and understanding that he is his own man. He likes people, but he doesn't like to be touched.
👶Todd is not suited to a home with small children unless they completely understand his boundaries and how to respect them.
😸Todd could live with another cat but a female would be recommended, he might not be ready to give up big-man status. (But if you have a super friendly chilled out male cat it could work).
🐶Todd doesn't mind dogs - if a super excited dog got right in his face it would probably get a smack. But otherwise okay.
➕Todd is FIV positive. His general health is currently excellent-please chat to us more about FIV if you have questions.
Todd could be a great shed cat/barn buddy, but he could also be a happy house cat.
We know he's not an easy candidate for rehoming but we also know his perfect home is out there somewhere.
Please share Todd far and wide to help him find that special someone. 😻
He's been waiting 245 days, that's more than enough.
Todd is approximately 6 years old. He's desexed, chipped and vaccinated and is FREE to adopt!
