About Derby
His eyes will go one of two ways, lure you in or give you the false impression he's crazy, which he is, but only for love or for food!
Derby is a people pleaser and wants to be pleased by his people. He will do anything for affection and being smothered in love by his humans, or any humans!
He is well mannered around the house and when called he will come and sit waiting eagerly to see what you have in store. He knows the basics, sit, wait, free.. and is semi crate trained with a bit of food motivation to go in. Once he is in he'll have a chat and then be off to the land of dreams.
As much as Derby loves car rides , you might have to boost him in there as he is royalty. He loves his walks, and walks with a loose lead. While in care, his carer has taken him for bush walks and has found he is great off lead with a recall of 70%...
Derby came into care with his brother and had zero dog social skills. We have been practicing and he's going very well. He is currently with a trainer getting lots of play dates and pack walks daily and really enjoys playing with a multitude of dogs. This is to show him how to be a dog and play like a dog as he can still get a little overwhelmed on first meet but displays no aggression. He is still learning his dog social skills, and will have to continue with training in future.
We are looking for a home where Derby is allowed inside. A family with the ability to do controlled and positive play dates and pack walks to keep working on his social skills. He is medium energy level, so requires a good walk every day and activity to keep him mentally stimulated.
A home with another stable dog as a role model and companion and/or a family around more often than not. He would love to continue his bush walks with his new family and any new adventure. A good spot on the lounge for cuddles and movie watching is also welcomed.
If you can offer this crazy eyed boy a great home, go to our Fetching Dogs website as fill in an adoption enquiry form.

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
