Sasha

Lovely Sasha came to SAFE after a relationship breakup and neither partner was able to keep her. She had been with the same family her entire life and she's understandably upset. 

She doesn't chew, dig, jump and only barks if someone is at the door.  She loves to snuggle on the lounge (if allowed), but is quite happy to sleep on her own bed. She is microchipped as a 'German Shepherd X' but our guess would be more Shar Pei/Staffy/Rotti X.

Sasha has ongoing allergies (and accompanying ear infections)--and came to us with weepy red skin, patchy fur, and her ear canals swollen shut.  We're unsure whether she has food allergies or contact dermatitis (grass/pollen) or both. We have noticed improvement after switching to a raw diet (mostly roo, lamb and fish, no chicken or beef), adding fish oils, and wiping off her paws/belly after walks in the grass. We expect her allergies will always need monitoring, and her ears will need regular cleaning/attention.  She's currently going on 2 long walks a day and enjoys chewing on meaty bones, which you can take from her with no issues. She is completely housetrained and has also learned how to use a dog door.

We expect she's never been lead-trained and can pull quite strongly (especially when she sees other dogs), but is adapting well to a head halti and prefers walking on a longer leash (1.5m). She is potentially cat social (with proper introductions) and we are still seeing how she reacts to dogs off lead.

Sasha hasn't had much security in her life up until this point, she knows a lot of tricks but doesn't have much experience playing with toys and having fun. This insecurity leads to her being shy around strangers, but she will warm to them quickly.
