About Mia~6yr Old English Staffy(On Trial 24/10/2020)
Introducing Mia, a 6yo female, English Staffy
Dog Rescue Newcastle is helping Mia’s owner to find her a new home. Unfortunately, the home environment has changed for Mia and her owner is not able to give her what she needs, in terms of time and attention and as a result, Mia too is finding this difficult.
Like most English Staffies, Mia is a bundle of happy energy with a loving and affectionate personality, who is still quite active and playful but does also like to laze about close by to her people. She enjoys a regular walk and is fairly good on a lead, happily walking beside you, but she can pull a bit when she sees other dogs.
Mia has been good with other dogs in the past and is currently living with a male staffy of whom she has spent her life with so far, but due to the change in the home environment, Mia is starting to feel like she has to compete for attention and sometimes her tolerance drops.
At this stage it is probably best that Mia is placed in a home where she is the only dog and is her family’s number one, relishing in all the attention that she is craving. Having said that, she would happily share her space with a cat as she been around cats most of her life and doesn’t feel that she needs to compete for attention with them. It’s also
important that her new family AREN’T going to rush or force her to meet new dogs too soon or take her to the dog park or dog beach, because “she might enjoy it”. Mia might not ever be a dog park or dog beach dog and that needs to be OK with her new family. She needs to feel safe, loved and relaxed, NOT overwhelmed and stressed. Like all new furry additions to a family, time, patience and slow introductions are needed when it comes to other furry friends.
As mentioned, Mia is happy to just go for a walk with you, because her people are all that she needs. People make her happy. She is good with kids, having two young ones in the family and in general, loves being with her people and welcoming visitors to the house, provided she gets a belly rub.
Mia sleeps outside but does enjoy a bit of inside time when she is allowed. She is used to spending her days outside whilst the family are at work and school. She’s not an escape artist but will still require secure fencing around the yard just to make sure she is and feels safe. Mia does like playing with toys, so having some in the yard will help to keep her occupied if she is home alone.
Mia is a pretty well rounded dog in that she’s not much of a barker, rarely digs, doesn’t jump, prefers to stay in her yard, isn’t a fussy eater, listens to commands and her name when called and is always happy. She just needs a bit more of the time and attention that she has been used to.
If you feel that you can give this wonderful girl the perfect home she deserves, please fill in an adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
Please note, you will not be considered for Mia if you do not submit an application.
Mia is located near in the Newcastle Area and her adoption fee is $250. She is desexed and up to date with vaccinations, flea and worming.
