About Buddy ~ 6yr Old Greyhound (Owner Rehomed 12/10/20)
Buddy is a lovely, 6 yr old greyhound, enjoying his retirement from racing. He is a big dog at around 36kg, but is truly a gentle giant. Despite his size, he doesn’t need a lot space and is very happy spending most of the day in his little corner.
He is quite happy to amble along on a leisurely walk and is easily tired if walked faster. A 20-30 min walk is enough for him. He loves being indoors, especially in the colder months as he dislikes his jackets and makes every effort to remove them!
Though he can stay by himself for long periods, he can only do so if he is able to see the world go by. He will also need a high fence due to his height. He is also very adept at opening partially open doors and gates, so you need to be mindful of ensuring the gates are properly secured when leaving. You can’t catch him if he decides to walk on his own! He is also quick to learn his boundaries and routines. He really dislikes stairs but can navigate them with encouragement. He cannot live in a home with cats or pocket pets.
Another thing Buddy loves is treats - yoghurt drops and dental treats are his favourite and he doesn’t care much for liver treats. He will greet you with enthusiasm and at times, even do a zoomie. He loves his pats and cuddles and wags his tail at every opportunity. He is in good health and has recently had his teeth cleaned. His vaccinations are up to date and he is microchipped and desexed.
Buddy is suited to a home where he is the only dog and loves the company of humans, but also his own space. Preferably someone who is experienced with greyhounds.
Buddy is an assisted adoption with Dog Rescue and will stay with his owner until a new home is found.

Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
