Poseidon

If short legs, long bodies and muscles better than a body builder are your thing then look no further than our gorgeous boy Poseidon (14kg).

Poseidon came into care from a loving home but unfortunately wasn’t getting along with his doggy sister anymore. Due to this he will need to be rehomed as an only dog. What he lacks in his abilities to make friends with other pooches he more than makes up for with his love for humans.

Poseidon is a very affectionate boy and loves nothing more than receiving some belly scratches or sneaking his way up onto the bed in the morning for some cuddles. He is a very relaxed dog at home and is happy to entertain himself with toys or a snooze in the sun if his humans are busy.

His basic training is relatively good, he knows how to sit, wait, high five and is toilet trained. He sleeps well through the night on his bed in his carers room. He is a pretty low energy dog and as long as he gets a daily walk he will be happy.

His foster carers have attended a training session with one of our trainers to address his dislike of other dogs. When he came into care he would carry on like a pork chop if he sighted another dog on a leash while out and about. With some simple guided corrections he is now learning to walk on a leash politely and is learning to ignore other dogs while out and about.

Due to this behaviour we are searching for a dog experienced family who can continue to guide him in the right direction whilst out and about. He is very smart and picks things up very quickly and in an experienced home will be a great addition.

Due to coming from a family with family members home pretty much all of the time and he had another dog for company, Poseidon does not love to be left home alone. His foster carers have been working on this and he is ok to be left for about an hour at a time now. We are looking for a family with someone home most of the time, but expect he will learn to be left alone for longer periods once he is settled.

He is not a barker and is a very easy housemate to have around. We are looking for a home with no young children and no other pets. He will need to be allowed inside/outside access and be provided a warm comfy bed to sleep on at night.
