About Hawk
Hawk is a true extravert. He loves to be around others, especially other dogs. The best part of Hawk’s day is meeting new friends on walks or at the dog park. When he’s home, Hawk spends most of the time looking for others to entertain him. If he can’t find anyone around he’ll resort to staring at himself in the mirror, thinking that he is with another dog!
For this reason we think Hawk would be happiest living with another dog, or at least someone who is home often and prepared to give him lots of attention. Hawk’s number one goal in life is to love and be loved. He’s never too in your face though, he simply likes to be near you and will happily accept pats whenever they are offered.
It hasn’t taken Hawk long to adjust to his new life. He masters fears quickly; from stairs to the loud noises of living in suburbia, nothing is too scary for Hawk! He’s house trained and loves spending time outside sniffing around, so he will need a backyard his new home. This sweet and loving boy is primed and ready to find his perfect forever home.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
