About Libby
Lily is a self-proclaimed cuddle addict. Her friends have tried to make her seek help but Lily isn’t ashamed. She is adamant that cuddling is good for the mind and soul. And we tend to agree with her.
Lily’s favourite place in the world is wherever her humans are. She dotes on them endlessly and thinks they are the bees knees. She hates to miss out on any activity, no matter how boring. Whether it’s a walk to the local park or a walk into the bathroom, Lily doesn’t care. As long as she’s with her humans it’s a euphoric experience.
Her love for people does mean that she experiences some separation anxiety. She would suit a busy household with lots of people to give her attention and, ideally, someone home during the work week. Living with another dog may also be good to keep her company.
As she comes out of her shell Lily’s cheeky side is beginning to show. But most of the time she’s very well behaved and has adjusted to her new life well. She’s highly active and loves going on long walks to meet new people and smell as many things as possible. With lots of encouragement she can now handle stairs and is comfortable with most things around the home. Ongoing training will be needed for toileting behaviours as she can sometimes slip up here.
You will never be lonely with Lily around!

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
