Hi everyone! My name is Herbert - Herbie for short!
I was rescued by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld after I ran out of time in the council pound. My owners abandoned me there because, and I quote 'he's not worth that much' (release fee). They walked away and left me, extremely underweight, covered in fleas, and terrified. But thankfully, Off The Chain came forward and saved me, and I have never looked back.
Since coming into care, I have been a pleasure to care for. I am very dog friendly, and well mannered. I was a little nervous at the vet since I had never been to one before, but patiently let them do what needed doing, and lapped up all the pats! I play really well with other dogs and am very happy and patient. I also love playing in water! My old owner had kept me chained 24/7, so I really enjoy now being able to run, jump and play like a normal dog.
I currently sleep outside on the deck at night, as my foster home's landlord won't allow inside pets. So me and the other dog here just snuggle up together and we sleep through the night well and really like the deck. We only bark at the possum in the tree who sits JUST out of my reach, yelling at me! How rude. During the day, I enjoy sunbaking, playing with the other dog, or splashing in the clamshell pool. In the car, I sit and watch the world go by. My carers strap me in with a harness so I am safe and I enjoy car rides big time!
I need to live behind a 6ft fence with no footholds (eg colourbond) so that I can't get out to see the world without permission. I am not obsessed with getting out, merely an opportunist. I have not met cats, so should not live with any, but I am great with all dogs over 20kg and humans, too. I am a very placid, snuggly and loving dog who is improving quickly with my leash skills, and learning basic commands fast.

We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All pets must be collected from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld- this is adopter responsibility. We appreciate your understanding.

If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.

NEED FLIGHTS?
1. Contact us for a quote via email or facebook, providing the following info.
- Your name
- The animal you are interested in
- How soon you would be able to adopt (as naturally their weight will increase with time)
- Which airport you would collect from
2. Once all of the above information is provided, we will gain a quote from JetPets, using our charity discount. Flights are generally from Brisbane or Toowoomba, QLD.
3. Once you receive your quote, if you'd like to proceed please put in your adoption application ASAP to make sure you don't miss out!
