About Buddy
SORRY, NO MORE ENQUIRIES FOR BUDDY - He is currently on trial in his new home.
Buddy is a beautiful Ridgeback/Labrador cross and has a super relaxed temperament.
He is good with children and other dogs and even puts up with a grumpy old dog in foster care.
He takes his treats gently, will sit on command and will sit and wait nicely for his food. He is not food possessive.
Buddy goes walking along the wetlands and is happy to watch the ducks and bird life.
This gorgeous boy is very placid and has a gentle soul, he will gently tap you when he wants a pat.
He only barks occasionally to let you know there is someone at the gate or fence and does not chew his bed/blankets (or anything) - however he has snuck the family’s shoes at times and sneakily buried them in his bed (not chewed).
This doggie loves attention (not rough and tumble play) and loves to be a member of the family - he goes to anyone and has no preference to family members.
He is not a high energy, more of a plod along - take things as they come type of dog.
He can be left alone during the day and is happy with his own company - it would be good if he could be rehomed with another dog but not a necessity, as long as his new owners interact with him as a part of the family.
Buddy is a gorgeous doggie and shines with gentle encouragement. He has some quirky traits including eating half his dinner then running up to you - you take a look and then say "off you go eat more" and he will then eat all his dinner!
Please note:
We will not be permitting Buddy's adoption without a meet and greet and you must be able to travel to regional Victoria to meet him, social distancing and masks must be in place.
He will not be suited to a family with toddlers as he is a big dog and sometimes a bit clumsy.
We would prefer the person/persons adoption him to be familiar with big breed dogs.
His new owner/owners MUST be committed to further lead training - he has come a long way in a short time and will 'wait and 'go' at roads but will sometimes freeze to look at people and is learning about the world around him. Very occasionally he will show a stubborn streak when out walking and lay down - you must be patient until he is ready to move again and use positive reinforcement as this dog will not react to a raised voice, pulling or pushing!
Please contact us for more information and we can contact you and then send you an application form if you wish to proceed with applying for Buddy.
Please be advised that it is not the first person to apply and meet Buddy - it must be a good match for both him and the new owner.
Medical notes
Good health - recently vet checked
