We can all agree 2020 has been a rough year, right? Well let me tell you about mine...
Born under a shipping container, my siblings and I fought to live in an industrial estate. (Hence our names... Indi, Tate)
We befriended the staff there with time, but didn't meet many new humans until OTC came along and trapped and rescued us. The next few days were a whirr. I basically hid and hoped nobody would hurt me, while I was tested, poked, prodded... I received all my vet work with my eyes closed waiting for it to end... and then the food came. Yummy, clean, good quality food. This really made my day. I used to have to catch my own, but in this place they bring it to me on silver dishes! I wait until the humans leave to enjoy it, so that they don't hear my 'omnomnom' noises. I have self respect, after all.
Since I settled in here, I've learned there are a few human kids running around. They're short, loud little dudes who seem friendly but I keep my distance. The big guy here, they call him dad... he snuggles me a lot. I pretend to be too cool to want snuggles, but at the end of the day all I really want is love and he makes me feel very safe and special. Sometimes when he's not paying attention I even sneak up and tap him to ask for some more snuggs... The other lady here they call mum- she's pretty cool too. She pats me and talks to me and tells me it will all be ok. I believe her.
There are other cats here who I take a lot of confidence from. If they're confident, I am. The tiny dogs here though, they freak me out. They're always sniffing and licking...keep that tongue to yourself, kid! I keep my place pretty clean. I've never had my own home before, so I stick to my litter and use my manners. I like to be included in the family but left at a distance. I keep an eye on things from the safety of the top shelf of a book case.
I reckon the longer I'm here the more I'll trust this family. They're pretty cool. But apparently I can't stay forever. I understand. Their home is full, they're just helping me out since I was in a tight spot. They said they have someone amazing coming for me. Adult humans with older kids or none at all, and cat friendly pets who give space... Who will give me time and room, and will let me come to them. Who knows I'll be a lapcat in time, but are willing to wait for me to get there. Who'll love me for all my bravery, fears and quirks combined. Is that you, that they're talking of? Are you my new family? If so, my foster mum said you should complete the below form!
Medical notes
I was tested for FIV/FELV when I came in and luckily I am negative! I am an inside cat and OTC recommends I be kept inside or in an enclosure - roaming cats are neither safe, nor legal.

If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
