The body of a cattle dog, with the soul of a Grandma.
Meet Clover. The word love is right in the middle of her name for a good reason. She has LOVE to give! Clover has a gentle disposition and she would do anything to make you happy. She's alert, easy to train, cooperative and smart.
She is gentle and takes treats with a soft mouth. She is generally quiet - she does bark an alert when someone knocks on the door unexpectedly. She seems almost indifferent to other dogs when we're walking. If we walk by a house with barking dogs in the yard, she looks but keeps on walking straight ahead. She meets other dogs nicely on a lead, with no sign of aggression, just eagerness. She walks beautifully on a leash, except if she's spooked - when she tries to run for safety. 99% of the time she just trots beside me, or just in front of me, sniffing along.
Clover rides in the car no problem - lays down in the back seat - not a peep. She's not much of a jumper (despite her breed). She slept well in the crate for four nights, but prefers her dog bed, or even the cool floor. She's fully house trained and there've been no issues leaving her free in the house at night.
Now for the things Clover doesn't do. She doesn't dig. Doesn't jump. Doesn't try to run out an open door. She doesn't bark (except as mentioned above). She doesn't counter-surf or beg for food.
Clover's dream home would be a loving, stable, consistent home where she could settle in and become part of the family and build up her trust. She would love a pet cat or two of her own to keep her company. She would prefer to be an only dog, but would be open to a buddy, if matched with her chill vibe. Exercise is important to her - she loves a big walk in the morning, then she's happy to nap the rest of the day. But she wouldn't say no to a stroll before bed.
She's very food motivated, as long as she isn't spooked. She knows how to sit and lay down and come and wait - she has AMAZING recall, both on and off the leash - even with other dogs around. She's very polite about going through open doors once she's been invited.
She's just generally a total gem.
