About Griffin
Do you love to play fetch? Do you love to give belly-rubs? Are you looking for a giant-headed furry friend who will love you unconditionally? Then have I got the dog for you.... It’s me! Griffin!
I am around 2-3 years old, but a puppy at heart. Around the house I have perfect manners. I am house-trained, I will sit, lay-down, roll-over, shake and drop-it. I know to wait for my food, and while I LOVE to snuggle up to you on the couch or your bed, I will get off and go to my bed when asked (though I may try to emotionally manipulate you with my big brown eyes a little first). I can get a little bit anxious when left alone, and like to be inside the house, in the company of my humans as much as possible. Plush-toys and blankets are also a big comfort for me, as I chew on them to soothe me, so a plentiful supply of these is a must, and I know the difference between things I am allowed to chew and what I am not. I’m pretty clever like that.
I love to go on walks, play fetch, and roll in puddles, so a daily game of fetch and a moderate amount of exercise is important, and I am learning to walk well on a lead. When off lead in a secure and distraction-free place I have good recall. However - I absolutely love other dogs. I love them so much - that’s it’s actually my one big downfall. I get so over-excited and vocal when I see one, that my size and reaction tends to scare my potential new friends and their owners away. So I need a strong handler who is committed to working on this with me, and the appropriate equipment so that I can learn to greet new friends appropriately and safely. I have met some dog friends in controlled, off lead environments and gotten on great, so I think I may be happiest in a house with a well-matched dog who can help teach me and satisfy my longing for canine company.
I don’t jump, dig or climb fences, but I do love to have space to run around and play fetch (did I mention I love fetch?), so a medium sized yard would be ideal, and if I see dogs going past I might try to get out and say hello, so secure fences of at least 4-5 feet are important.
I love all people and am good with children. But I am big, clumsy and extremely strong so this should be kept in mind for considering me for your family, as I may accidentally bowl small people over. Overall, I am just a big softy looking for someone who will give me as much love as I have to give to them. And I know if you meet me - we will fall in love.
