About Axel
PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID-19 and travel being restricted, I am only allowed to be adopted in NSW or ACT.
My name is Axle and I am a two year old German Shepherd. With three young children, and one being a new born, my mother doesn't have enough time for me and so I am looking for a new home.
Being a young dog I have a lot of energy so am looking for a home with an energetic person or couple, or a home with teenage children, who have recently had a German Shepherd and understand how much time I need. I am very good at digging the grass up if I am bored.
I am a little shy when meeting new people and sometimes I jump up or bark but once I realise you are friendly I will be happy for cuddles.
I will need a home where I be an integral family member and where I can continue with my lead and basic obedience training.
I have been living on my own so would rather be an only dog, and I haven't been near cats, pocket pets or small dogs.
Intelligence, loyalty, love and companionship is what I will give in abundance when I connect and builds that trust with my new owner.
If you understand the nature of the German Shepherd, have recently owned a German Shepherd, and are looking for a companion dog then please consider me.
If you think you can give me a new home please contact us by selecting "Enquire about this Pet".
Medical notes
Axle is microchipped and desexed. He will be vaccinated before going to his new home.
He currently struggles to keep weight on so is still on Puppy food, but we will be getting a blood test done to see if there is any other reason.
Adoption details
We have an Adoptions Manager who screens all prospective candidates as to their suitability to adopt a German Shepherd Dog.
We try to contact every one by phone but if that isn't successful we will email our application form to you, which needs to be completed and returned, or you can call us back and we can chat and complete for you. We will also ask you to provide photos of your yard and fencing to enable us to see where the dog will be kept and that they have areas of shade and shelter.
All our dogs are ready to go to their new home, so when you enquire about a dog you must be in a position to take them into your home. We are unable to hold a dog while you fix your fences or go on holiday, etc.
The successful candidate who adopts one of our dogs is provided with an information kit, ongoing support, training and advice on all aspects of feeding, training and general assistance to ensure both the new owner and our rescued dog settle into their home.
