About Polly
Polly is a gentle soul who instantly makes those around her feel calm. She’s got an extremely sweet, puppy-like face that is always eagerly seeking cuddles and affection. She’s not gregarious or outgoing, but her lovely nature worms it’s way into the hearts of everyone she meets.
Polly has transitioned seamlessly into the life of a pet, handling new experiences with style and grace. She’s a master at walking up stairs, is toilet-trained and walks wonderfully on a lead. She has her funny moments too. At first upon seeing herself in the mirror, she thought it was another dog and instantly started trying to play with her own reflection. And sometimes she’ll scratch her ear with her hind leg and then start attacking her own foot, much to the amusement of those around her.
Polly would cope living as an only-dog but she might benefit from some company to keep her entertained throughout the day. She loves meeting new dogs on her daily walks and will go out of her way to greet them along the journey.
Polly has a lot of love to give and is waiting for a special family to make her life complete

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
