About Pintano
Pintano (Pint) was rescued from the Kimberley region and she is a what we call a ‘Pilbara special’. She is a ridgeback mix, around 23kg and stands around knee height.
Her favourite things in the world are to go on adventures, sniff, explore and run. She has good recall in general and tends to stay close when off-lead. She is strong on the lead.
Pint is not suited to crowded beaches or dog parks as they are too over-stimulating for her. She becomes very excited when meeting other dogs and needs to be introduced correctly. She prefers walks in the pine forest or bush where there are less people and dogs around. She also loves to swim when she gets the chance.
Pint loves her Kong and other tough chew toys and playing tug-o-war. She enjoys chewing on bones or antlers etc. She needs mental stimulation to keep her sharp mind occupied. She likes to play with treat balls, snuffle mats, puzzle toys and seeking out hidden food. She is not fussy with food at all and loves her fruit and vegie snacks. She is very curious and likes to be involved in daily activities.
Pint knows her basic obedience and enjoys being challenged by learning new tricks.
Pint is looking for a home with experienced owners who can be consistent and firm with her, setting boundaries and expectations from the start. She is a sensitive soul so needs someone with a gentle approach. She is generally well behaved and eager to please but tends to lose focus when she is overstimulated or excited and needs to be reminded of what is expected of her. She is terrified of thunder and hates bad weather. She has a thundershirt which helps in these situations.
Pint is looking for an adult home where she can bond with a single or couple. She would do best in a calm environment as she gets easily over stimulated when there is lots of activity and noise. She is not good with cats or other small animals and not suited to livestock. Pint will need to be the only dog. She could have male doggy friends outside the home as long as they can tolerate her rough and boofy play style.
She will require daily exercise and would love to live on a property or somewhere with a big backyard. Like a working breed, she likes to have a task to do and will be at her best when she has regular exercise, play time and mental stimulation.
Pint likes cuddles and scratches but is not demanding of attention. She enjoys chilling on the couch and watching TV with her people. Pint is ok with being left alone while you work as long as she gets regular exercise.
Pint is a boofy, exuberant girl who loves to play and she will entertain you with her antics. She may never become a perfectly polished pooch and would love someone who appreciates her, quirks and all. She can take a while to warm up to new people so it may take a few visits to get to know her.
Pint is very healthy and active and agile, appearing much younger than her 7.5 years.
Pint will come with all of her belongings. She can be fostered with view to adopt after a 2 week trial.
If you’d like to welcome Pint into your home, please email for an application form.
