About Stitches
If you’re looking for a best friend for life, a soulmate who will be there for you no matter what, Stitches is the dog for you. He is one of the kindest, sweetest souls we have ever met who is impossible not to fall in love with.
Stitches loves humans a lot. New friends, old friends, it doesn’t matter, as long as he is getting a pat and a tummy rub he is a happy boy. He is very confident and likes to think of himself as the centre of attention, asking for cuddles from anyone he lays eyes on. He has a tendency to learn up against you when he is being patted, collapsing his whole body weight gently as he relaxes his muscles in satisfaction. It’s very cute and funny to watch.
He’s adapting well to life as a pet, however he’s still learning to understand the world around him. He’s adjusting to being toilet trained, and responds well when he is in a routine. When he is in an excited mood, he will take belongings off the floor and play with them, though he never chews or tears anything. He is very easily distracted if you replace the item with one of his toys.
He’s still learning some manners, such as staying off the bed and that not every scrap of food in the house belongs to him, but he has made great progress during his short stay in foster care. Consistent reinforcement will help to adjust his behaviour.
Stitches is a big softy who is beautifully mannered and loving to everyone he meets. He might like to live with another dog for company.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
