About Narla ~ 5yo GSD (On Trial 5/6/21)
Introducing Narla, our 5 year old German Shepherd who is looking for a patient and loving forever home. Our lovely Narla hasn’t had much training however since coming into foster care but she is learning very quickly and knows that if she listens she will be rewarded.
Narla is very energetic and loves going on walks or runs if possible! She is an inquisitive girl pulling you in every direction as there are so many interesting smells around but after a few minutes she calms down and will happily walk by your side. Lots of people and dogs out and about excite Narla and she wants to go and say hello however sometimes other dogs (and humans sometimes) take this over excitement as aggressive behaviour. Narla’s recall is getting better and will come back when called as long as there aren’t too many distractions around!
Narla is a very quick learner and has picked up on basic manners since coming into care - she is very food motivated and will sit and listen very well. She know’s come, sit, stay, no and get out of the kitchen. She is a very smart dog but can be independent at times.
While Narla’s foster parents are at work she is in the backyard keeping herself company with toys or lounging on her bed. She barks when people pass her home but when it is someone she knows she stops. Most of the time someone has been home so minimal time is spent by herself and that is all that Narla really wants, to be around her humans. As soon as her parents are back from work or running errands she is waiting by the back door waiting to be let in. She might even chase her tail because she’s excited to see you or run a track in the backyard! She would not be suited to be an outside dog only. Narla would love a medium sized backyard with room to roam - due to her breed she will require secure 6ft fencing and will not be suited to apartment or courtyard complexes. We are not accepting interstate applications at the moment.
We are looking for a home with no young kids for Narla as she hasn’t been exposed to them since being in our care. She may be OK in a home with older teenagers (16 plus years) as long as they are used to big dogs and are confident to help with her training. Narla’s new home should have no other pets so that her ongoing training can be the focus.
If you feel that you can give this wonderful girl a forever loving home please contact Luke on luke.drn@outlook.com or fill in an adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
Narla is located near Charlestown, NSW (Lake Macquarie, near Newcastle). She is desexed and up to date with vaccinations, flea and worming. Narla’s adoption fee is $300.
Adoption details
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
