About Pebbles Melbourne
If Pebbles could have a job, she would be an explorer. She’s incredibly curious, always sniffing out a new adventure and wanting people around her to join her on the journey. Her walks are one big sniff-a-thon, but that’s just the way she likes it. She has a child-like wonder and always finds joy in the world her around her.
Pebbles loves to be part of the family. She never wants to miss out on any family activity, whether it’s a trip to the local café, post office or the supermarket, Pebbles needs to join in on the action. She loves car rides and will really enjoy going on holidays when that is possible. Another one of her favourite past-times is people watching. If given the opportunity she will spend all day lazing in the sun watching people go about their days.
She doesn’t show too much interest in other dogs and would be quite happy living as an only dog. She’s very good at learning commands and responds well to training. She is very placid and happily accepts gentle pats and cuddles.
Patches of pale apricot and deep ginger adorn her sleek white coat and no greyhound has ever looked so sophisticated with her dinner smudged across her face! When she strikes a pose, heads turn and hands then pat this spirited lady who is pure youth at heart. Pebbles needs a home that will definitely let this fabulous mature lady lounge about on the furniture and be happy to take her on short excursions across the day.
Two short walks a day
Okay as only dog
Okay living with other dogs ( not small dogs )
No cat applications
We only consider applications who compete our online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.
Medical notes
Pebbles recently had quite a few teeth extracted and only has her very back teeth left. The vet has advised at a later date these too may need to be extracted but are good for now. Pebbles may need some regular medication for age related joint discomfort. Overall, for an old girl, she is in great health.
Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
