About Goose Melbourne
While most of us stack on the iso-kilos, Goose is looking as healthy as ever despite being cooped up most of the day in Stage Four lockdown. Goose is one of those lucky dogs that eats whatever he wants and lazes around most of the day with it barely affecting his lean figure. We are jealous to say the least!
But there is more to this handsome boy than just his good looks. The first thing you notice about Goose is how friendly he is. He greets everyone with a goofy smile and a thumping tail wag. His big, muscular exterior hides a soft, gooey heart that is always looking for his next cuddle. Goose likes to sleep most of the day - often upside down with his legs dangling about in the air. His foster carers have given him the name ‘vampire dog’ because his pointy teeth are always exposed when he sleeps, giving him a crazy looking smile. It’s very cute.
Goose is very well behaved. He is toilet-trained, sleeps through the night and walks well on a lead. He knows not to counter surf and is calm and patient with his food. He gets along well with other dogs and would be very comfortable living with another canine companion. Goose is a total dream dog and will be sure to make his new owners blissfully happy.
We only consider applications who compete our Gumtree Greys online application.
When this is done we can make contact to discuss adopting a greyhound and potential suitable greys currently in foster care.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
