About Ivy ~ 2 yr old Rotti ~ On Trial 10/10/20
This stunning little girl is Ivy - a 2 year old pocket-sized Rottweiler who’s extremely affectionate and friendly with everyone she meets . Ivy is an active and bubbly tail-wagger who is also calm at times which makes for a great mix. If you love the Rotti breed then you’re going to love this sweetheart.
Ivy is very smart and keen to learn - combine this with the fact that she will do anything for a treat makes training time really fun and rewarding for both you and her. As mentioned she’s only a small girl so she would be a great match for a home that understands and loves her breed but don’t necessarily want a huge Rotti to join their family. Though she is small - she does still have some typical Rotti strength so you will need to be confident walking her.
When out walking she is interested in saying hi to all the people she meets - her tail wags at a million miles an hour. She has been socialised quite well with medium and large dogs when out of her yard so she’s quite happy to walk past or meet other dogs. She will happily receive pats and affection from new people and she will play-bow and bark to new canine friends in an attempt to get them to play. As with most Rotti’s she’s best with medium or large dogs that aren’t in-her-face.
Ivy is currently living with a male Rotti whom she adores - she tries to get him to play but she doesn’t take it personally when he chooses to chill out instead. They eat close together and she’s quite well-behaved with food around. She does have a funny quirk where she barks at her own reflection in her food bowl at the end of dinner time!! Ivy also lives with a small dog whom she wants to chase and crash-tackle so she needs to be separated. We are unsure if she would hurt the little guy but she does scare him with her over-eager attention (like the wolf sizing up Little Red Riding Hood!). We are therefore after a home with no little dogs, cats, chickens or pocket pets.
Ivy would best suit a home as either a single dog where she gets all the training and attention, or matched with an easy going (calm) yet still playful medium to large male dog. We are specifically looking for a family who is experienced in Rottweiler ownership - so please only apply if you have Rotti experience.
Ivy would love a grassy yard to play in - she absolutely adores playing fetch with balls so some room to run around would be great for her. Because she loves people so much she’ll need to be allowed inside when her new family are home. If there are children in the home they should be over 12 years old as young kids might get toppled over accidentally. She would also suit large breed dog-lovers whose kids are already grown up and have left the nest .
