About Lady
For the Love of Lady – One of the broken ones.
Ali and Ladys week 🥰
Sometimes I look at Lady and all I can see are her scars.
The bite marks from another dog on her leg, little bits of her side taken.
I get so sad thinking about what this beautifully natured girl has been through.
But other times… I am taken away by how far she has come.
The desire to do the best she can.
This week we walked to the coffee shop 3 times.
The coffee shop is on the main road.
She is taken away by the cars, people and all the movement.
I always carry steak on me during these times.
But she shows no interest.
We sit and chill, then we go home.
I took her to Pet Stock during the week, to let her pick a toy and some treats.
You would think she would be taken by all the smells of food and toys.
The food is literally at dog height.
But no.
We sat and calmed for about 30 minutes.
She was perfect.
Scared, but watching.
She was rewarded with her new favourite toy, Mr Platypus.
What I find absolutely remarkable is every time we leave, she faces a new challenge.
She gets scared, will shake and whilst she is always safe, it isn’t a ‘fun’ experience for her. Yet every time I go for the lead she gets so excited.
Yesterday, we just went for a drive.
Put the windows down and let her smell the world.
We can all learn a lot from Lady. ❤️
Lady was surrendered to the pound with another dog.
One dog had clearly been very treasured and loved – the other had not.
One came into care like a boss – she was happy and confident. It was clear she had known love and knew how to receive it – the other didn’t.
One had clearly been included in the family, had been well fed and had slept inside – the other hadn’t.
One was small and furry – the other wasn’t.
One quickly found a perfect new family – the other didn’t.
Lady is “the other one”.
She is already many weeks into her journey to recovery and she still has some way to go .. but she has the most important medicine she could have.
She has a foster momma that loves her and NEVER gives up on her.
She has a foster momma who over and over again, day after day helps Lady take little steps forwards.
She has her first love .. one that is making the greatest sacrifice of all .. giving her heart to a broken dog that will not always be hers.
Right now she has Ali but Ali sadly is not her forever
Lady is approx. 18 months old and is a Ridgeback x
She is desexed, vaccinated, microchipped and flea/ worm treated to date.
She needs a patient home where she is an only dog and where she is given as long as she needs to just “be”
If you could be Ladys “extra special, Unicorn, needle in a haystack heart” please, please get in touch. 🙏🍀
She is located in Carindale and her adoption fee is $395.
