About Elliot Melbourne
Elliot is a curious boy who loves to explore the world around him. He’s always looking for something new to investigate and is an avid learner who will find joy in even the smallest things.
An equally active body matches Elliot’s active mind. In other words, he’s got ants in his pants. He’s not a typical, lazy greyhound, and instead likes to be on the go at all times. He would suit an active family who takes him for at least two big walks a day, giving him time to stretch his legs, meet new people and enjoy new sights and sounds. Around the house, he loves collecting toys, shoes, towels, helmets – anything he can get his paws on. He loves enriching games where he can sniff out treats or solve puzzles, it gives him a sense of accomplishment and helps tire him out.
Elliot would like to live with another greyhound to keep him company and entertained throughout the day. He’s a soft soul and likes to be as close to his family as possible as his bed must be near you at all times. You will never feel lonely with Elliot around. His big personality will be a shining source of light in your life. He’s a funny boy who will make you laugh and keep you on your toes.
A handsome and caring greyhound, Elliot will make his new owner very proud. He’s still got some manners to learn, but his sweet and endearing nature charms everyone around him. He will make a wonderful lifelong companion.
Elliot is not cat friendly. No small dog applications please.
Due to the limited time of volunteers, only potential adopters who complete our online application will be considered :

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
