About Benny
Meet Benny – a friendly, bubbly and gentle boy! Benny has been keeping his foster carers company in lockdown over the last couple of months and is ready to find a forever home of his very own.
Benny has been living as a solo dog in a larger open-plan apartment. He would be happy to go to another apartment provided it is relatively spacious however would also love a bigger home with a yard to play in. If in an apartment home, his family must be committed to two daily walks (plus toilet breaks). Benny walks nicely on-leash and enjoys exploring the local areas. When he first came into foster care, he used to ‘freeze’ sometimes, but this is no longer common. A new home should be prepared to slowly introduce him to the neighbourhood starting with shorter, slow walks and lots of sniffing time.
One thing Benny definitely wants is a human (or two or three!) who are home a lot of the time. Benny has separation anxiety and while this has been managed with both medication and training, his new home will need to be patient as he settles in and committed to continuing his ‘alone-time’ training. We can help with lots of useful resources. Benny is not suited to FT workers and would prefer his humans to work from home, or work shorter PT hours. Please consider your typical work and social life outside of Covid19 if you are interested in adopting Benny.
Given the whole Covid19 situation Benny came into, he hasn’t had a lot of opportunity to socialise with other dogs, but he is friendly with dogs he meets on walks, although a bit spooked by small pups. Benny could go into another home as a solo dog, or a home with another greyhound or similar sized dog.
