About Yuki & Sally~Lowchen Pair(OnTrial 29/10/20)
Meet Yuki and Sally! This gorgeous bonded pair are looking for their perfect furrreverrr home! Sally 8 years, and Yuki 10 years are Low Chens, meaning “Little Lion Dog”. Yuki and Sally need a special home, a home where inside activities and mental stimulation games are preferred over long walks at the dog park and café visits! Yuki and Sally need a home with people at home most of the time.
Yuki and Sally have not had much (if any) training on the lead, or exposure to the outside world- so it seems. Although the pair are “angels” inside the home, and get along great with their foster brother – (Cocker Spaniel), and foster sister, King Charles Cav, they are very afraid of other dogs, people and all forms of moving objects whilst on walks. Infact, they will tell them so by barking and lunging, and getting themselves and foster mum very upset! It is best to take Yuki and Sally for short walks separately, and during off-peak times away for dog parks/ovals and cafes. Helpful tips are available and encouraged to be followed from our Dog Rescue Trainer.
Yuki and Sally’s Foster Mum has taken quality time to assess their behaviours and their needs, and will be assessing applications very carefully. Additionally, our Dog Rescue Trainer has assessed the pair and has provided some very helpful tips (see below) and can provide further training lessons to the successful applicant/s.
Although Yuki and Sally have grown up together and therefore have a very strong bond (so much that they have regular kissing sessions!), they both have their unique little personalities and deserve a home where they will be loved and admired equally for their differences.
Yuki is an affectionate dog and loves human interaction. Yuki loves to play with his toys when he first wakes up in the morning, including his foster mums slipper! Yuki loves to sleep at the end of your bed, but will climb up close to sneak in a cuddle. Yuki does not like sharing his food, and sometimes displays typical food aggression. It is best to feed Yuki away from other dogs including Sally. Yuki is mostly an inside dog however loves to bask in the sunshine on a warm day. Yuki needs to be welcome on your lap, and to sleep in your bedroom. Yuki is housetrained and is so clever he taught himself how to use the dog door!
Sally is a loving, gentle dog who admires her “person”. Sally suffers mild separation anxiety when her foster mum goes to work and will try to escape past foster mums legs out the front door – please be mindful! Sally is playful at times, however does like to spend a large proportion of the day sleeping on the couch. Sally is an inside dog, and needs to welcome on your lap and to sleep in your bedroom. Sally has little “accidents” inside the house from time to time if she cannot make it outside in time, she requires patience in this area.
Yuki and Sally’s Furrrever Home Wish List 🐾
- Someone who is home most of the time (full time/part time workers cannot be considered).
- Someone who can commit to investing time into helping them with their on-lead reactivity behaviours, with the support of our Dog Rescue Trainer.
- Someone who will take them for short walks separately during off-peak times where they are unlikely to come across other dogs or people – no parks/ovals or café.
- Yuki and Sally would like their new owner to understand that they are older dogs, and although fit and healthy now, may require future medical expenses
