About Shen Melbourne
Shen is an energetic and playful dog who loves nothing more than some quality time with her toys and a bone. Shen would suit a home with a backyard, plenty of room to run around and let out her energy. She's come a long way in her foster home with humans. It takes few weeks to earn her trust, but once earned she becomes very affectioning, and loves a good cuddle and tummy scratch.
Shen will need some further training with other dogs and sharing mealtime without a growl however she is an incredibly fast learner and has come a very long way since her first day with her foster family. Shen has sleep startle and sometimes nightmares, so a little reassurance and lots of love will help her get over her fears.
She's made incredible leaps and bounds (literally) learning the stairs, getting used to neighbourhood traffic and learning to walk near trams without being too scared. It's baby steps but she's going to give her owners a lifetime of love and laughs. Her foster family's favourite thing is when she reaches her paw out for more pats. No matter if she's standing or lying down she'll make it known she wants a belly rub and a lot of love!
She's a beautiful hound with stunning eyes, a little white chin and the tiniest dip of white on her tail. Her spotty toes are incredibly beautiful too!
No Cat or small dog applications please. Shen would be happy as an only dog if her humans are around a lot.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
