About Tippy ~ 1yr Old Mastiff X (On Trial 05/09/20)
Tippy is a 1-year-old lovable goofball who has an abundance of affection to share with her humans. She is a female Mastiff x Irish wolfhound and weighs 35 kg but don’t let her size deceive you, she is still very much a puppy. She is an indoor/outdoor dog, is housetrained and will vocalise if she wants to go outside.
She will “sit” and “wait” for her meals and is very food-oriented when teaching her new tricks. Tippy has been attending Maitland Dog Obedience classes and very quickly graduated to Class 2 (which she is very proud of!) She can walk on lead, sit, drop, loose-lead stay for over 30 inches. She is eager to please so very trainable and will need all that she has learned to be reinforced and consolidated.
Tippy is people-friendly, very loyal and loves to play fetch. She is good with kids and has been taught not to jump up but due to her size, she would be best suited to older kids. She wants to play with other dogs but is still learning the skills to be able to read when another dog tells her “enough”. She has not been tested with cats but has proven to be chicken-friendly. She does have a tendency to resource-guard in terms of her human and may be best suited as an only dog. She loves car trips and is well-behaved when taken to new places. She does not jump fences and does not run when off-lead but she will still require adequate fencing.
She is not dog-reactive, and generally barks only in terms of vocalising for food, toileting, attention etc. She walks well on-lead but her innate curiosity comes out initially while she explores and she can’t wait to get on to the next smell so she will need her lead-training to continue and be reinforced. Tippy loves her food and needs to be fed with her Kong, which also allows for mental stimulation while slowing her down. Tippy has an abundance of affection to share and may not suit a family who are out most of the day as she does want to be around her humans.
She is currently in foster care at Nelson Bay NSW (North of Newcastle NSW) where she shares a home with another dog who she enjoys wrestling with and is slowly learning about boundaries and to recognise the signals that tell her it is time to stop.
If you think you could provide the home this gorgeous girl deserves, you can contact her carer at drn.karyn@gmail.com or you can fill out the adoption form here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt.
Her adoption fee is $350 which includes desexing, microchip and vaccinations. Tippy is up to date with all worming and flea treatments and is a happy healthy girl ready to find her forever home with a loving and patient family.

(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire:
https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
If there is a phone number listed in the dog's profile then you can also phone for more information.
(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
(3) If that goes well we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've selected. We will ask to see photo ID.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption. More details of our Adoption Procedure on our website: https://tinyurl.com/adoptproc
